TB CLINIC:-

Mahavir Hospital is the first private hospital recognized by government of India of Public Private Mix Directly Observed Treatment Short Courses (PPM DOTS) for TB.

The Hospital is carrying out the National Tuberculosis control program as a Model of Public Private Mix. This PPM DOTS program was launched in 1995 and we are now looking after a population of 5 lakhs in Hyderabad.

This PPM Module also known as Mahavir Model was developed by our Research Team under the dynamic leadership of late Dr. K.J.R. Murthy and is recognized by world Health, Organization.

Organization (WHO) for replication in other countries. We diagnose TB in 5 Lakh population and provide free medicines to patients till they are completely treated.

Clinical Trials on TB Vaccines:

The Centre is carrying out studies to test the efficacy of a new TB Vaccine in our population in the Clinical Trial sponsored by ICMR. So far the Vaccine was tested on more than 3000 people and it was found to be safe. Beside we are also undertaking clinical trials to test the efficacy of new drugs.

Visits of President of United States of America:

Mr. Bill Clinton, President of the United States of America visited Mahavir Hospital in the year 2000 and commended the excellent work carried out by our dedicated under the PPM DOTS to eradicate TB from this planet. The President also appreciated the model which is known as “MAHAVIR MODEL” developed by our doctors. This is indeed a unique contribution and feather in the cap of this hospital.
